Harassment and Discrimination Training - Postponed

This workshop has been postponed. For questions please email - brianna@sdbusinesschamber.com

As of January 1, 2019, harassment and discrimination training is required for all California businesses with five (5) or more employees.

Eliminating workplace harassment and discrimination is essential for employees seeking job satisfaction and for organizations looking to improve employment relations and reduce the risk of liability.

North San Diego Business Chamber has partnered with Littler Mendelson, the world’s largest labor and employment firm, to offer harassment and discrimination training at discounted costs allowing our small  businesses to comply with the new law. At the end of the training, you will be in compliance with the new law and receive certificates, good for two years, stating that your employees have been trained.

The training will be led by Littler attorneys Deidra Nguyen and Vani Parti and will cover the following topics:

  • Understand how to detect and avoid unlawful harassment, retaliation, abusive conduct and inappropriate workplace behavior
  • Learn practical steps that can help prevent, address, and correct harassing and discriminatory conduct in the workplace
  • Increase self-awareness to respond appropriately to avoid participating in potentially unlawful or inappropriate workplace conduct
  • Learn how to address and report potentially offensive and/or unlawful harassing and discriminatory conduct in the workplace
Two training dates have been set up to allow companies flexibility in their schedule. Every employee in your company must be trained. You can all train together on one date or may split your group between the two dates.

Training Dates

  • February 6 | 8:00 am – 10:00 am | Details
  • February 27 | 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm | Details

Requirements

  • If you have 5 or more employees, every employee in your company must go through this training. Those in supervisory roles are required by law to take two hours of training. Other employees will be released after 1.5 hours.
  • Each employee must bring a copy of your current harassment policy. Before the training please review that your policy meets all requirements on this checklist
    • If your policy is not in compliance you will need to have it edited before the training. If you need assistance, these Chamber members offer these services.
