The Men’s Club of Temple Adat Shalom on Pomerado Road at the Poway/RB border has announced a miniature golf fundraiser – minigolfforgood.org – planned for this coming September 2nd.
“We’re turning the temple’s 5,400 foot social hall into a 36 hole mini golf course to help support Interfaith Community Services,” says TAS Executive Director Jeffrey Frankel. Temple Adat Shalom is one of the founding members of ICS, which is connected to hundreds of faith-based organizations throughout San Diego.
“It’s part of our philosophy that, through acts of Tikkun Olam (Hebrew for ‘Repairing the world’), we can each make life better for everyone.”
Each of the 36 holes are being sponsored by area businesses, who are designing and building their hole to suit their personality. “Imagine a chiropractor having you hit around some bones” says Frankel “or a banker placing bags of money as obstacles.”
He even envisions a plumber placing the hole in a toilet bowl.
In addition to the sponsored holes and a small charge for playing, there will also be a snack bar and a silent auction in place. All funds raised will be divided between ICS for housing north county’s homeless and feeding the region’s hungry, a community garden that ICS and TAS are collaboratively creating to help feed those most in need, and the Men’s Club itself and the wide range of projects they support.
“Sponsoring organizations will have a perfect opportunity to discuss products and services that can help address the needs of a targeted audience,” Frankel observes. “Potential sponsors are already getting their brochures and videos organized, and we expect lots of goodies will be handed out for players who get holes in one.”
“He adds, “There are still opportunities for sponsors and silent auction donations.”
The event will go from 10am-10pm. From 10am-6pm it will be family friendly, and 6pm–10pm will be adults only (21+). Beer and wine will be for sale after 6pm.
