Is San Diego a tech hub? That is the question Claude Jones asked a small group of passionate professionals looking to make a difference in the San Diego tech community. After deep discussion, they realized a unified tech front was missing. That sparked a movement toward change. Claude and his team had a mission - be conduits for change by helping to build a stronger San Diego tech community through collaboration. Their goal is not to duplicate efforts, but rather bridge gaps and encourage connections to drive transformative change across the tech community within San Diego.

Claude will also talk about how Walmart decided to choose North San Diego as their location for Walmart Labs.

Claude Jones Senior Director of Software Engineering | Walmart Labs Claude Jones is a seasoned technical leader with over 16 years of experience. He is currently the site lead for Walmart Labs in Carlsbad helping to contribute to the growing tech culture here in San Diego. In addition, in his spare time, Claude runs the Elevate Foundation (http://elevate.foundation), an organization he started focused on giving back to the community by helping others in need. He started The Practical Leadership Guy (http://claudejones.me) where he offers free services for motivational speaking, life coaching, and his leadership thoughts through his blog (https://medium.com/@claudejones43) to encourage others to be the best they can be. Claude is also the founder of San Diego Tech Hub, (http://sandiegotechhub.com) an organization focused on changing the perception of the San Diego tech ecosystem. The focus is to be a conduit for change connecting businesses, organizations, and individuals, leveraging their resources, passions, and talents to build a stronger San Diego tech community through collaboration.
