About Us

Women’s Empowerment International (WE) is on a mission to empower women with the tools to work their way out of poverty, care for their families, and strengthen their communities. We envision a world without poverty in which women are empowered, uplifted and equal partners in society. Women live in safe, sustainable environments that include adequate food, water, housing, education, and health care and are free from gender-based violence. They have the hope, opportunity, and ability to control their lives and futures.

WE funds microfinance programs, small business development support, training, education, and other holistic poverty alleviation strategies benefitting thousands of women experiencing poverty around the world. WE currently funds nine programs in seven countries including the U.S, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Haiti, Mexico, and Uganda. Focusing on the most under-resourced communities, WE enables women entrepreneurs to build their skills, obtain small business loans, and launch sustainable income-generating enterprises that serve their families, villages, and communities.
