The Economic Development & Advocacy Advisory Council works with elected officials, community leaders, Chamber Members, and other organizations to shape policies that help to promote business creation, sustainability, and growth. Areas of focus include jobs, employment and business retention that stimulates overall economic growth, and improves the quality of life in the region. The Advisory Council also facilitates the Chamber's Think Local First initiative, whose goal is to support buying, hiring, and contracting locally. For more information about getting involved with Economic Development & Advocacy, email Dylan Fisher or call the Chamber at (858) 487-1767. Chamber Members are invited to join the meetings and participate during the discussion. Meet Your New Supervisor! We are excited to have our new District 3 San Diego County Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer join us to introduce herself and share insight into her policy priorities in her role. After Supervisor Lawson-Remer presents she will be available for audience Q&A, this is a great chance to directly connect with her and share what is important to you as a constituent. Following Supervisor Lawson-Remer we have a great panel planned to discuss the new updates on AB-5. There have been considerable changes made to AB-5 since it was passed into law a couple of years ago. To help us understand these changes and new exemptions created we have invited a few employment law experts to share what business owners and leaders need to be aware of.
