From the 15 freeway from San Diego, take Rancho Bernardo Rd to Pomerado road. We are located within Oaks North (55+ community). From 15 coming from Escondido, take the Pomerado Road exit.

About Us

The Bernardo Winery, established in 1889 and family owned and operated since 1927 by the Rizzo family, is the oldest family owned and operated winery in Southern California. Since 1927 the Rizzo family has been growing and producing wine in the same Italian tradition for three generations, specializing in regional varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Syrah, Syrah, Merlot and Zinfandel.
Come, escape for the day and feel like you’ve been transported to an Old World Village. Enjoy the tranquil beauty of the vineyards, olive trees, gardens, original buildings and wine-making equipment and experience the genuine hospitality of the Bernardo Winery tasting room, Café Merlot, V’s Coffee Shoppe, Village Shops and Galleries. Conveniently located in North County San Diego in the town of Rancho Bernardo, The Bernardo Winery is an oasis, minutes away from downtown. • Tasting room hours: Daily 10-6pm | Wine Tasting is $12 for a tasting Flight of 5 wines.

Cellar dinners with the winemaker in our working winery can be booked through our event office
Bernardo Winery has several venues for special events, weddings and parties and chairs, tables, linens and more to make it easy planning. Our event team can tailor your event to your needs and help make everything run smoothly
With onsite catering available, we can easily provide fresh and tasty fare to your special event large or small
The rustic architecture of our historic winery makes for dramatic and memorable photography for your winery wedding
The huge redwood barrels in our old barrel room, provide a stunning background for photos as well as an intimate setting for special events for 2-50 people
Friday Evenings all throughout the Summer, the winery is open late, until 9pm, with live music, food trucks and more.
Every Friday Morning, join us for the Rancho Bernardo Farmer's Market 9-1pm in our upper parking lot!
