Chris Thorne is the new chief executive officer of the North San Diego Business Chamber, succeeding longtime chamber CEO Debra Rosen. He stepped into the new role on July 1. Thorne retired in 2018 after a 30-year career in the Navy and was president of the Gary Sinise Foundation’s San Diego Chapter before taking the helm at the chamber. Following his military service, he also helped to establish and scale a small start-up company focused on supporting transitioning military personnel and military spouses in achieving successful post military careers. The chamber’s executive team spent three months interviewing candidates and selected Thorne because of his background in nonprofit leadership, human resources, small business ownership and the work he has done with all sizes of companies, chamber officials said in a news release. Under Thorne, the chamber will continue to focus on small business support, advocacy for all local business, emerging leaders’ development and supporting transitioning veterans into new careers. “I look forward to working with an amazing team of staff, board of directors and membership to support and promote the strong and vibrant business community in the San Diego region, as we continue to build on the reputation and strength of the chamber,” Thorne said in the release.Thorne takes helm of North San Diego Business Chamber
